Fall means three things to me: hockey, football, and wearing pants on the golf course. The Gridiron Grip from BestGrips.com combines two of those. When I was first asked if I would like to take a look at these, I was skeptical. Sure, I've used leather grips (and still do on my 52 degree wedge) but grips made out of the same material as a football? It's a fun idea but can it actually work? |

If you have seen the movie Major League, you can appreciate the line, "Hats for bats, keep bats warm", said by Pedro Cerano as he took the driver cover from Dorn's golf clubs and placed it on his bat. As winter approaches, shouldn't your putter be kept warm and protected too? |

I love this grip. Those of you who follow this blog regularly remember my post last month about the Gridiron Grips from BestGrips.com. Those were for your irons and woods, this one, is for your putter. Just like the other grips in the Gridiron family, the Gridiron Putter Grip is made from the same leather material as a football. The feel is identical and it is held together with the "baseball-style" stitching. The major different between the two grips is the flat front of the putter grip, which allows you to keep your hands quiet while making your stroke. |

When you talk to most golfers about golf grips, they usually have one brand/type they prefer while others don't pay too much attention to their grips. For me, grips are very important - it’s what's between you and the club. I like a grip that has a good feel because I don’t wear a glove on my left hand.
Recently I was contacted by Harry Sewill, President of BestGrips.com. about testing one of their genuine leather golf grips. I jumped at the opportunity because I’ve never used a leather grip before and I wasn’t happy with the grips on my new Scratch wedges. |

I recently received this prototype club grip from Harry Sewill of www.bestgrips.com. It's made of the same leather that Wilson uses for its official NFL footballs. Installing the grip is a snap. All that is required is one wrap of double-sided tape, and you're good to go! When holding the newly gripped club - in my case, a lob wedge - here are some immediate impressions: the surface has a firmer feel compared to Harry's other grips, partially attributable to the deep pebble grain; there is a good amount of tack, if you like that quality; the grip feels fuller in the hands than the standard sized rubber grip - but not as big as a mid-sized grip - which is good for me, personally |
